Bank Holidays

Blog prompt number 7, blog about your bank holiday memories as a child......mmmm we never had any traditions or did anything special. It was just another day off school for us and another day of playing up the park by the back of our house.
Nowadays, to be honest, I curse bank holidays, they only interfere with my schedule. It's an extra day of food to buy in, an extra dinner to plan for and an extra day with nothing getting done and 2 men in the house making a mess. Until I go back to work I will not look forward to them!
However it is an extra day for me to do some crafting while hubby looks after the little one, here is a little something I made on May Day.......

Lincoln Linen........................I LOOOOOOOOVE IT!!!!

My Favourite Photograph

Oh My, Emma made me think about this one! I have tonnes of photos, mainly of my georgous daughter. However as I started trawling through them all, I had to open this one up and smile. I love it, it's full of colour and life and happiness. It also marks the occasion of Amelia's first time on a swing and as you can see from her face she really enjoyed the experience!
Doesn't she make you smile.......

Oh and before you ask, yes it is scrapbooked, titled playing....

Read all About it!!!!!

Blog prompt number 5 and Emma has set the challenge to create a card or scrapbook page that is inspired by a song.
At the moment I am loving listening to Emeli Sande's album, Our Version of Events and my favourite song on there is called Read All About It, Pt III. SO as I had this on in the background and was looking through my newly accquired "Good Life" collection I spotted this decopage kit to make a fab Fathers Day card (well at least I hope its fab)
Dads all around should be Reading all about how much we think they are the bestest!!! So what are you waiting for go make a card for your dad to read all about it!

My Crafting Style

I expect like me any crafter gets asked this a lot......so what is my crafting style. Up until recently I didn't think I had one, but after surfing the docrafts forums and taking part in some of the chit chat I realised I do. I like my cards clean, I can't stand mess or clutter, that's why you'll never see much painting, clay, heat embossing, loose glitter etc from me. I hate getting my hands dirty. Just give me a piece of paper and a pair of scissors and I'll see what I can do!!
I also like my cards to be pretty, sophisticated and I've noticed I use symmetry a lot, something I'm trying to break away from. I tend to use 3 of everything to embellish as well, can you notice??

5 docrafts member galleries I LOVE and why

There are so many docrafts member galleries I love, but a few do stand out in my mind. I will be honest here, I don't spend a lot of time on line browsing through the gallery all day as I just don't have the time. My daughter keeps me very busy, not to mention my hubby and teenage stepson!!!
Here are 5 members I like to look in on though.....

1. SaraBee. Sara is such an inspiration, her monthly scrapbook challenges have really helped inspire me and help me catch up with all my endless scrapbooking! Not to mention her kind words and encouragment on all my projects and fellow docrafters alike.
2. DecOcards. Sandra also has a fab gallery. You can always count on Sandra to get involved and help you when needed. I love Sandra's clean and simple approach and her inspirational challenges.
3. Lisaxx. Lisa's cards are georgous and I recently had the priveledge of one Lisa's creations on my mantelpiece, thanks to the March friendship swap.
4. Cackcards. First of all you have to look at Ann's gallery for the simple fact of her screen name, lol. It makes me laugh everytime. Her creations are most definitley not cack. Just go and check out her wedding dress and shoes, they are amazing.
5. Incy. Kays cards are fab. A very friendly docrafter who has welcomed me into the community from the offset, alongside others of course!!

I think you should go and check out these galleries. They are all fab.

5 Reasons Why You Should Craft

There is really only one reason why you should craft and it involves the word need, not want, need!! But I'll stretch it over 5 just for you! ;-)

1. Everyone needs an outlet, your craft area will become the place where nothing else matters. I love to hide away in my craft room and get lost in making a scrapbook page!

2. Shopping!!!! You need to shop and these days you can buy craft supplies anywhere! Tesco, Poundland, but don't forget The Range (wish they had one in Paris)

3. Socialising is important, getting involved with an online community (docrafts only please) is the best excuse for needing to browse the internet for hours. Share your tips and techniques with your fellow docrafters, catch up with craft news wherever you go. Also find yourself a local craft club, a few hours of uninterrupted crafting is essential!

4. Everyone needs a butterfly, punch em, stick em, draw em, die cut em, anything, just put a butterfly on it. You know it looks good!!!!

5. Lets not forget Exercise!!!! A must in your day to day activities!!!
You need to exercise your imagination everyday or your cards might end up like this......

New Baby

Hello!
This morning I made this card for the Noah's Ark challenge over on Docrafts. The challenge was to make a stepper card, with the main image as a elephant. I had this image sitting in my stamp box so decided to put him to good use. The letters are die-cut on the Cricut using the Robotz cartridge and the daisys are stamped from the Daisy and Dandelion collection.
The papers are from the Papermania Capsule Collection.

Shake it!!!

Here is 2 Christmas cards I made, they are shaker cards which I saw how to make in a very old Docrafts magazine!!!

Organised Choas

I went to my craft room last night in the hope of getting some sewing done. I'm making a growth chart for my daughter. But I ended up re-organising all my craft stash, I spent a good 2 hours doing it!!
And it's still organised choas!
I did manage a bit of sewing but I think a new sewing machine beckons!!

For a poorly lady

My stepsons friends mum has just had an operation so I asked him if he wanted me to make him a card. I thought he would say no, but he said yeah ok. So I made him this black and white butterfly card. The butterflies are diecut and have added black pearls down the centre. The central circle is glittered vellum layered on to white card. I did this because I wanted a bit of height on the circle, I then layered this onto a paper doily. The sentiment is stamped on to card then I inked the edges and added some pearls.
Thanks for looking xx

M is for............

Masking and male themed.
I created this male easel card yesterday for the Docrafts Club A-Z Challenge. The image is stamped then I used the masking technique to stamp it again, my first attempt!!
I made the flags from black gingham paper mounted onto black card, then used cocktails sticks for the flag poles.

Today I have become a blogger....god help me! I blame Docrafts!!
